Iron Man 3 Review

Another movie review!

Don’t judge me but this was actually the first Iron Man movie I saw in the theater. Actually, it’s the first Avengers-related movie I’ve seen in theaters, besides Avengers. Well, it was a good one.

The thing I was most interested about going into this movie was what happens to Tony Stark after the events in The Avengers? Because villains are cool and all but honestly, we know Tony Stark/ Iron Man will be victorious in the end.

The movie started off a bit strangely- with Tony Stark doing a voiceover. We got some history about our bad guy (and a small cameo from an Iron Man mentor!). Fast forward a few years and we’re learning about a new bad guy- The Mandarin. Tony does a pretty stupid thing and gives his address out to the press and in short order we’re watching his house get destroyed (after seeing some of his cool new changes to the suit though). Tony ends up in Tennessee, picks up a sidekick, and then heads off to save his lady and defeat The Mandarin, who turns out to be not quite what he expected. There’s lots more to the movie than this of course but you’ve probably already seen it and if you haven’t I don’t want to ruin it for you.

There were two things I loved about this movie: the humor and the action. Tony Stark has always got the perfect one-liner comeback and they come pretty fast here. And the fights! So many explosions and battles in and out of the suit- it was, well, awesome.

And we did get to see what happens to the world, post-Avengers. The always cool Tony is now dealing with panic attacks. The appearance of Thor has opened up all kinds of possibilities to bad guys. This is still most definitely an Iron Man movie but it was nice to see the the nods to the previous events of the Marvel universe.

Two last thoughts: I would have loved to see more of Pepper Potts in super mode. And, as this is a Marvel movie, be sure to stick around for the after credits scene (seriously- it makes sense of the weird voice over).
